Our Sourcing
Ethical, Sustainable Sourcing—From Source to Your Doorstep
At Darko, we believe that great supplements start with great sourcing. Our commitment to quality begins at the source of our ingredients, and we work tirelessly to source the highest-quality, most ethical, and most sustainable ingredients for our 8 premium supplement formulas. We partner with trusted suppliers around the world who share our values of quality, transparency, and sustainability, and we hold every supplier to our strict sourcing standards.
We believe that sourcing is about more than just quality—it’s about ethics, sustainability, and respect for the planet and the people who grow and process our ingredients. That’s why we prioritize suppliers who follow fair labor practices, sustainable farming methods, and ethical animal welfare standards—so you can feel good about the supplements you take, and the impact they have on the world.
Our Global Sourcing Network
We source our ingredients from a global network of trusted suppliers, carefully selected for their expertise in growing, harvesting, and processing high-quality nutritional ingredients. Our suppliers are located in countries around the world, each chosen for their unique climate, soil, and expertise in producing specific ingredients:
- United States: Grass-fed collagen peptides, organic adaptogens (ashwagandha, rhodiola), and non-GMO vitamins/minerals.
- Norway/Chile: Wild-caught fish oil (omega-3 EPA/DHA) – sourced from sustainable fisheries, certified by the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC).
- Finland: Vitamin D3 – sourced from lanolin (sheep’s wool) from free-range sheep, produced in a sustainable, cruelty-free process.
- India: Organic turmeric extract (curcumin) and ashwagandha – sourced from small, family-owned organic farms in Rajasthan and Kerala.
- Japan/Korea: Probiotics – clinically studied strains produced in GMP-certified facilities, with strict quality control standards.
- New Zealand: Grass-fed whey protein (for non-vegan formulas) – sourced from free-range cows, no rBGH or antibiotics.
- Canada: Magnesium glycinate – high-purity magnesium sourced from natural mineral deposits, processed with minimal environmental impact.
All our suppliers are required to provide full documentation for their ingredients, including proof of origin, farming/harvesting practices, and third-party testing reports.
Our Sourcing Standards
We have strict sourcing standards that all our suppliers must meet to partner with Darko. These standards are non-negotiable, and we regularly audit our suppliers to ensure ongoing compliance. Our sourcing standards include:
Quality & Purity
- All ingredients must meet or exceed our strict purity and potency standards.
- All ingredients must undergo third-party testing for contaminants, heavy metals, pesticides, and residual solvents.
- All active ingredients must be standardized to ensure consistent potency and effectiveness.
Ethics & Fair Labor
- Suppliers must follow fair labor practices, including living wages, safe working conditions, and no child labor.
- Suppliers must provide proof of fair labor practices, including third-party certifications where available (e.g., Fair Trade).
- We prioritize suppliers who work directly with small, family-owned farms and local communities.
Sustainability & Environmental Stewardship
- Suppliers must follow sustainable farming/harvesting practices that minimize environmental impact (e.g., organic farming, crop rotation, sustainable fishing).
- Suppliers must use minimal water, energy, and chemicals in their production processes.
- We prioritize suppliers with third-party sustainability certifications (e.g., MSC for fisheries, USDA Organic for farming, Rainforest Alliance for herbs).
Transparency & Traceability
- All ingredients must be fully traceable from source to finished product.
- Suppliers must provide full documentation for their ingredients, including COAs (Certificates of Analysis) and testing reports.
- Suppliers must be open to regular audits and site visits by Darko’s quality control team.
Our Commitment to Sustainable Fisheries & Animal Welfare
For our animal-sourced ingredients (e.g., fish oil, collagen, whey protein), we prioritize sustainable fisheries and ethical animal welfare practices:
- Our fish oil is sourced from MSC-certified sustainable fisheries—ensuring that fish populations are protected and fishing practices are environmentally responsible.
- Our collagen and whey protein are sourced from grass-fed, pasture-raised animals—no rBGH, no antibiotics, and free-range living conditions.
- We never source ingredients from animals raised in factory farms or from unsustainable fisheries.
- We offer vegan alternatives for all our animal-sourced ingredients (e.g., algae-based omega-3s, plant-based collagen peptides).
Organic & Non-GMO Sourcing
We prioritize organic and non-GMO ingredients whenever possible, and all our organic ingredients are certified USDA Organic or EU Organic. Our non-GMO ingredients are certified Non-GMO Project Verified, and we never use genetically modified organisms in any of our formulas.
Organic farming practices protect the environment by reducing pesticide and fertilizer use, improving soil health, and supporting biodiversity. Non-GMO ingredients ensure that our supplements are free from genetically modified organisms and the potential risks associated with them.
Supplier Audits & Quality Control
We don’t just partner with our suppliers—we audit them. Our quality control team regularly conducts on-site audits of our suppliers to ensure ongoing compliance with our sourcing standards. We also review all supplier documentation (COAs, testing reports, certification documents) on a regular basis to ensure that our ingredients continue to meet our strict quality standards.
Any supplier that fails to meet our sourcing standards is immediately terminated—we never compromise on quality, ethics, or sustainability.
Our Commitment to Transparency
We believe that sourcing transparency is just as important as ingredient transparency. That’s why we provide clear information about the source of our key ingredients on our product pages and labels, and we’re happy to provide additional information about our suppliers and sourcing practices upon request.
If you have any questions about our sourcing practices, the origin of our ingredients, or our suppliers—please contact our customer support team at darko@darko.company. We’re happy to provide you with any information you need to make an informed decision about our products.
